About Regina Carter

Violinist Regina Carter's debut CD on Verve, Rhythms of the Heart, made it onto Time magazine's list of the Top 10 recordings of 1999. Her new CD, Motor City Moments, is a celebration of the rich musical heritage of her hometown, Detroit — from its famous jazz composers like Thad Jones and Milt Jackson, to Motown hitmakers Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, to bluesman John Lee Hooker. On Motor City Moments, Regina Carter demonstrates once again the exuberant virtuosity, rhythmic vitality, and heartfelt lyricism that make her one of the most dynamic and charismatic young leaders in jazz today.

"Regina Carter creates music that is wonderfully listenable, probingly intelligent, and, at times, breathtakingly daring . . taking the listener into the future of jazz."
